Oversight of short to mid-term execution of functional strategy and operational direction for the payroll department
Leadership to the payroll team, monitor team performance, coaching and mentoring to direct reports and lead overall process management
Collaborate effectively with various functional groups (e.g. Human Capital Service Centre (HCSC), HC Centers of Excellence, IT, Tax)
Fosters a business partnership approach and provide unparalleled service to internal clients
Provide leadership and guidance to ensure accurate, transparent, efficient and timely execution of payroll for over 8000 employees in various pay groups /legal entities
Oversight of the year-end process, ensure that all income tax and government remittances are prepared accurately and timely
Manage the integrity of the HRIS system information as it pertains to the payroll applications and responsible for ongoing review of work methods and/or processes and tools to improve operational efficiency
Continuously improve policies and programs by incorporating best practices to ensure that payroll processes are accurate and efficient
Ensure adequate internal controls and maintenance of process documentation
Proactively monitor department metrics and workload volumes to ensure effective levels
Requirements :
Degree in Business/HR with experience in payroll as well as experience in a leadership role
Relationship building skills with the ability to lead and influence others and foster a collaborative environment for all stakeholders
Excellent knowledge of payroll accounting and payroll business processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
Experience in the professional services industry would be an asset
