Assists Journeyman in performing skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical, instrumentation, pneumatic, Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and fieldbus networks. Assists in the troubleshooting of technical and/or potentially hazardous processes and equipment. Works under the direction of a supervisor.
Graduation from High School or equivalent diploma. Minimum of two years in Electrical or Instrumentation apprenticeship program or four years of relevant electrical or instrumentation experience or completion of degree program in related technology and an additional two years of relevant electrical or instrumentation experience. Some knowledge and experience with standard practices, principles, methods, materials, tools, and electronic test equipment used in the electrical, solid-state electronic and pneumatic instrument trades. Some knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the hazards and safety precautions peculiar to the electrical trade. Some knowledge and experience of control systems including, but not limited to PLC, DCUs, and relay logic. Knowledge of P&IDs, loop drawings, and control schematics. Ability to organize and coordinate work assignments, including post-job follow-up documentation and communication. Good verbal and written communication skills.
