Performs responsible, professional, technical, analytical, administrative and development duties for the planning, designing and implementation of the City's database systems and application package software support in a multi-operating system, multi-delivery environment, including client/server and thin client environments. Works with various staff in a collaborative partnership to translate customer needs into system requirements, proposed systems designs and the identification of the technologies and tools required to implement new or revised systems. Performs on-call duties in assigned rotation. Must be accessible during off-hours during on-call rotation, in order to monitor systems and take action where appropriate. 
 

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science or information technology.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Four years of Oracle database administration experience, including two years in the use of Oracle SQL.
• Developer, and a minimum of two years experience in the installation, tuning and support of Oracle applications which includes at least two package installs. Proven progressive Oracle experience in SQL / PL/SQL scripting, database replication, distributed databases, transaction processing, and the ability to restore data and systems from archives and/or backups. Experience with VPN, FTP, Unix based operating systems, Windows Server, OVM, SQL Loader, Oracle Discoverer, Java, Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise backup, XML and information technology security desirable.
• Equivalency: The bachelor's degree education requirement may be substituted for six years of Oracle database administration experience.
