Recommend and assist in the implementation of policies, procedures, goals and objectives; establish schedules and methods for recreation programs and operation of recreation facilities.
Supervise, train, motivate, direct and review the work of staff involved in delivery of recreation programs and facility operations.
Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the planning, development, and implementation of recreation programs, special events, and facilities.
Evaluate, approve and direct implementation of specific programs, activities, plans, and procedures.
Participate in the selection of staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures; write performance evaluations.
Review reports as well as operating and activity records of various facilities and programs.
Develop and evaluate sales and marketing strategies.
Oversee sales and revenue from merchandise, concession, ticket and rental sales.
Solicit sponsorships for equipment, supplies and in-kind services.
Prepare purchase requisitions; order supplies and materials.
Prepare status reports; conduct customer service surveys.
Survey community recreational resources and needs; evaluate results and recommend actions.
Prepare reports, agendas, and other written material; schedule meetings, events, and special activities.
Plan, organize and supervise administrative activities of facilities including recreation centers, pools and the aquatic park.
Coordinate facility maintenance, facility operations, approve contracts, facility use agreements and expenditures.
Meet with parents, special interest groups, clubs, organizations, and agencies to explain and promote community service and recreational activities and programs, and to solicit donations and in-kind contributions.
Assist in preparing and administering the department's budget; monitor the budget for assigned programs and facilities; research and recommend fees for new and existing programs.
Research and prepare reports; and complete assigned projects.
Respond to complaints, identify and implement solutions.
Coordinate recreation activities with other City departments and divisions and with outside agencies.
Assist peers in the implementation of their programs or events.
Provide highly responsible administrative support.
Select, supervise, train, and evaluate subordinates.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Experience:
Four years of increasingly responsible experience managing recreation facilities, programs and activities including a minimum of two years supervisory experience.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in theater production, recreation administration, or a closely related field.
