Prepares surfaces for painting; mixes and matches paint and prepares it for application; erects scaffolding; removes or covers objects to protect them.
Applies paint, including epoxy, plastics and other finishes, varnishes, stains, lacquers, and enamels to a variety of surfaces using brush, roller and spray equipment.
Washes surfaces; does occasional sand blasting; matches old and new woods; marbleizes, glazes, stains and finishes wood and furniture; hangs coverings and tapes dry walls.
Paints street lights, fire alarm and traffic signal poles and school crossing signals.
Cleans and maintains brushes and other painting equipment; cleans up work areas when job is finished.
Operates motor vehicles.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements :
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program.
Four years of full-time painting experience may be substituted for education.
