The Athletics department at Cal State Fullerton strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at California State University, Fullerton and fits within the overall mission of the University. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Graphic Designer I. Reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director, the Graphic Designer administers the graphic identity of the intercollegiate athletics program. Provides necessary marketing for all digital and print media, facilities, and apparel. Coordinates brand identity for eighteen sports while ensuring the departmental logos are consistent and compliant with university standards. Responsible for continued development of desktop publishing's technical capabilities and internet publicity and marketing, including website, social, and print media for Intercollegiate Athletics. Assists in developing marketing plans that will increase the visibility and brand for the Athletics Department, facilities, apparel, and the university. Produces layout, artwork, photographs, and video via the University's website. Design artwork for athletics website, schedules, posters, and print advertisements. Communications should have far-reaching implications to include local, regional, and national news media, Facebook, and Twitter, including publicity for teams, promotions of events, and ticket sales. Maintains orderly and accessible files and archives of institution's athletic achievements in files, paper, photographic, and electronic form of teams, coaches, athletes, and significant team events. Provides support for coaches and support staff as well as hire, train, and supervise volunteers and interns. Maintains working knowledge of and compliance with relevant NCAA and Big West Conference rules. Performs all job functions with integrity. Works to promote and safeguard the integrity and proper operations of the Athletics Department. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field or the equivalent technical experience and/or relevant coursework. Foundational knowledge of the principles and techniques of artistic and graphic design, as well as demonstrated design and artistic skills. Possession of strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to utilize and remain current with applicable computer software packages and systems. Working knowledge of the principles of artistic and graphic design and illustration including the ability to design, layout, and prepare finished artwork to develop a visual products. Working knowledge of applicable graphic, design, and desktop publishing software packages, as well as the ability to effectively use them to create visual material. General knowledge of the principles of print design, typeface, color, layout, and production techniques. Working knowledge of the use of color, tone, shading, harmony, and perspective drawing. General knowledge of systems, techniques, and processes used in website design, photography, printmaking, and other applicable media. Demonstrated understanding of various communication vehicles and methods. Basic knowledge of copyright laws related to creative properties. Demonstrated ability to understand communication goals.
