• Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials required to repair medium voltage electrical.
• Has the ability to perform all function of a journeyman electrician including the skill and physical ability to bend and install conduit, pull wire, climb and work off ladders, lift a minimum of seventy (70) pounds and work unassisted if necessary.
• Operate the emergency generator system and maintain a log demonstrating and documenting this operation.
• Reads, understands and conforms to all Hospital Administrative Directives and Plant Operations policies.
• Understands and operates the High-Voltage Buss Tie System and the secondary feeder system appropriately and in a safe manner.
• Inspects, maintains and repairs pole lines as necessary, and advises on necessary steps to repair problem areas encountered.
• Understands and follows all Division of Industrial Safety and National Electrical Code guidelines when work is being performed in all areas of this facility.
Either I Completion of a recognized apprenticeship for an electrician. (Apprentices who are within six months of completion of their apprenticeship may be admitted to the examination, but they must present evidence of completion of the apprenticeship before they may be appointed.) Or II Four years of varied experience in electrical installation and repair work. An Associate of Arts or Certificate of Arts Degree in Electrical Technology may be substituted for two years of the required experience. (Students who are within six months of completing their degree will be admitted to the examination but must present evidence of completion prior to appointment.)
