Facilities Management provides oversight of university resources and assets and is responsible for the development of the University's facilities including land use planning, capital improvement, project development, construction, as well as facilities operations and maintenance including custodial services, landscape services, building trade services, mechanical and electrical, and recycling services. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Carpenter Shop team as the Carpenter. Under general supervision of the Building Trades Manager for Capital Programs and Facilities Management (CPFM), the Carpenter performs a wide range of skilled journey-level carpentry and related work in and around assigned buildings. The Carpenter will demonstrate a methodical and organized approach to completing work assignments, involving a high level of safety awareness in accordance with established safety procedures. This position is highly safety conscious, works in accordance with established safety procedures, is disciplined in the proper use of PPE, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. The Carpenter offers excellent customer service and is always courteous to campus customers while maintaining records and data related to work performed using computerized record-keeping systems. An employee best suited for this carpentry role is one who is defined by their dedication to the quality of their work, dependability, and reliability. This is a key position that cares for campus buildings and grounds to support the University's mission, vision, and values in higher education. This position will interact with a diverse group of individuals. The Carpenter works well in a team environment and understands the balance of sharing duties, taking ownership, and will take the initiative to complete tasks as needed. A combination of progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrating the achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to those acquired through the completion of a carpenter's apprenticeship program.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
