Issues parts and supplies to mechanic staff for work orders.
Processes invoices and work orders.
Conducts inventories of parts, supplies, materials and equipment.
Contacts vendors to order new items or place re-orders of items; discusses the availability of parts and supplies; prices items competitively to obtain the best price for items.
Maintains various filing systems.
May conduct auctions of retired City units and other items.
Performs the pickup of parts and supplies from vendors.
Delivers and retrieves City units from vendors sent for maintenance and repairs.
May perform staff payroll processing.
May perform building maintenance repairs as needed.
May serve as a fill-in for Fleet Service Technician staff.
Supports the relationship between the City of Galveston and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information; performs other duties as required or assigned.
Employees may at any time be required to work in order to provide for the safety and well-being of the general public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services, in the event of an emergency.
Requirements :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent; AND three years of automotive parts processing and inventory control experience; ORan equivalent combination of education and experience.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:
Applicant will possess a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s License. Minimum requirement is that Applicant be required to possess a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver’s Learners Permit with passenger endorsement within 30 days of employment.
