The Accounting Officer (Specialist) is responsible for partial activity regarding the recording, reconciling, and reporting of the Department’s general ledger. The incumbent will maintain various departmental reconciliations, prepare collection posting adjustments, maintain Plan of Financial Adjustment documents, as well as requests for transfers and corrections to the State Controller. The incumbent will correspond with Legal Division staff regarding various litigation-related inquiries and requests; generate budget reports for program staff; download daily documents from the State Controller. The Accounting Officer (Specialist) will perform month-end and year-end closing procedures and processes, prepare and review year-end accruals and financial statements and assist in year-end statement training.
Ability to apply Internal Control and Accounting Principles and Procedures; full working knowledge of Word and Excel software; familiarity with Access and PowerPoint software and Outlook email system; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to prepare written documents in a clear and concise manner; ability to analyze situations and use good judgment. Individual should be dependable, motivated, reliable, and have good attedance record.
