1. Performs basic tune-ups on gasoline and diesel engines. Works on various mechanical, electrical, hydraulic/pneumatic, suspension, and cooling systems and components including, removal and reinstallation (R& R).

2. Performs repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as crawler loaders, backhoes, and bulldozers.

3. Conducts preventive maintenance on vehicles.

4. Performs basic wheel alignments on vehicles.

5. Operates and uses an acetylene torch in the repair of equipment.

6. Records maintenance and service information and data on designated forms.

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus two (2) years of experience in a related field.
• Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years
• Completion of an accredited automotive, diesel or related certification program may substitute for required experience up to a maximum of six (6) months 
• or an Associate’ degree from an accredited college or university in a related field may substitute for experience, up to a maximum of two (2) years.
