Reporting to the Associate Director of Prospect Management, Research and Analytics (ADPMRA), the incumbent will spend time identifying, researching, and qualifying individuals as major gift prospects consistent with the priorities of the University. To accomplish these tasks and ensure the fundraising staff has an on-going supply of prospects to meet the University’s fundraising goals, the incumbent will conduct comprehensive research and analysis using free and paid prospect research tools such as LexisNexis, ResearchPoint, Target Analytics, and LiveAlumni, as well as the constituent relationship management database, Raiser’s Edge. The incumbent will use their analysis of data to create comprehensive prospective donor research profiles, event bios, due-diligence screenings, and other requested reports. In the Raiser’s Edge database, the incumbent will update and upload constituent information and create new individual and organizational constituent records, and proactively audit data and work to ensure correct entry of data changes and updates to help assure data integrity. As part of the Advancement Services team, the incumbent will work with the Director of Advancement Services and gift processing staff to research and confirm uncertain bio-demographic information, analyze and remove duplicate records, and other appropriate high-level access functions in the Raiser’s Edge database. The incumbent will also be responsible for the bi-annual graduate candidate and alumni transfer imports, working closely with the department of Administrative Technology alongside the ADPMRA. They will manage daily Google alerts and work with other departments at Cal State LA to determine accuracy of alumni information. The prospect research and data analyst will assist the ADPMRA with preparing materials for monthly prospect management meetings and serve as back-up to the ADPMRA while they are away. University Advancement positions require staff to work with highly confidential and sensitive information. Successful candidates should have a working knowledge and appreciation for highly confidential information and data. The incumbent will follow any Cal State LA University Advancement policies and procedures, and those outlines by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA). This position is exempt, and telecommuting may be available, up to two days a week, should the campus determine that telecommuting is operationally feasible; however, the incumbent will be required to be in person for events, division meetings, and any other days the division deems fit to come into the office outside of normal remote workdays. Hybrid schedule up for renewal annually.
A bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and two years of administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Incumbent must possess: prior experience using paid prospect research tools (i.e. ResearchPoint, LexisNexis, LiveAlumni, and/or other resources); thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling, along with the ability to effectively write and present reports and other documents in a professional manner; proficiency in online research from multiple data sources with the ability to interpret, analyze, and summarize complex biographical and financial data for a fundraising operation; demonstrated technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software; prior experience working with constituent relationship management databases; ability to take initiative and manage multiple projects using excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines; ability to handle confidential and sensitive information at all times; and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a diverse environment.
