Drive a truck/trailer combination hauling solid waste from transfer stations to assigned destinations.
Drive heavy dump trucks (in excess of 10,000 lbs. GVW) with pup, tilt, or low boy trailers hauling equipment or material to construction sites.
Operate mechanical and hydraulic equipment attached to trucks such as trailers, winches, hoists, pumps, and compressors.
Ensure safety regulations are observed during the loading, rigging transporting, and unloading of materials.
Perform thorough inspections of combination truck or tractor/trailers prior to operation to ensure their safe condition; clean equipment and perform minor repairs.
Maintain records of mileage, servicing, and minor maintenance of equipment.
Lead and work with a crew as assigned.
Drive a variety of trucks requiring a Class "A" CDL.
Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
Requirements :
One year of experience in the operation of heavy trucks, including multi-axle trucks and truck/trailer or tractor/trailer combinations (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Knowledge of City, State, and Federal rules and regulations governing the safe operation of truck/trailer and tractor/trailer combinations.
