The successful candidates will be expected to: be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring students of diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; maintain an active, externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and master's students; and devote a portion of his/her time to engaging in departmental, college and university service. Of particular interest to us are candidates whose research complements the department's existing biochemistry, chemistry, and chemistry education research programs and/or will further expand research opportunities at the interface of chemistry and biology. Interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and college are strongly encouraged.

• a Ph.D. in organic chemistry, chemistry education with an organic chemistry emphasis or a closely related field, and relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment
• a strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for effective teaching. Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate and graduate level lecture and laboratory courses in the field of expertise
• the ability to teach both lecture and laboratory courses using student-centered, active learning and inquiry-based approaches at the undergraduate and master's levels
• a record of research productivity and/or evidence of the potential to supervise undergraduate and master's level students in research in organic chemistry or closely related fields
• a demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an independent externally funded research program involving undergraduate and master's level students leading to peer-reviewed publications
• the ability to communicate effectively with an economically, ethnically and culturally diverse campus population
