The successful candidates will be expected to: 1) maintain an active, externally-funded research program involving undergraduate and master's students, 2) be committed to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population, and 3) devote a portion of his/her time to engaging in departmental, college and university service. Of particular interest to us are candidates whose research complements the department's existing biochemistry and chemistry research programs and/or will further expand research opportunities at the interface of chemistry and biology. Interdisciplinary collaborations within the department and college are strongly encouraged.

• a Ph.D. in the field of either biochemistry, chemical biology, biological chemistry or a closely related field, and relevant postdoctoral experience at the time of appointment.
• a strong commitment to and demonstrated potential for effective teaching. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level biochemistry lecture and laboratory courses.
• the ability to teach both lecture and laboratory courses using student-centered, active learning and inquiry-based approaches at the undergraduate and master's levels.
• a strong record of research productivity in biochemistry or closely related fields.
• a demonstrated potential for developing and sustaining an independent externally funded research program involving undergraduate and master's level students leading to peer-reviewed publications.
• the ability to communicate effectively with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus population.
