Operates, rigs and works from stationary and aerial scaffolding and swing stage apparatus such as boat swain chair, power spider staging or other manually or motor-operated swing staging; works from baskets suspended from overhead and mobile cranes;
Prepares surfaces for painting by scraping, wire brushing, filling, sanding, burning, sandblasting, and other processes;
Applies two-part epoxy and vinyl coatings, paint, varnish, lacquer and stain to high steel structures such as spill gates, highline towers, microwave towers, bridges, buildings, and fixtures; uses brushes, spray equipment, and other appropriate methods in paint application;
Cleans and maintains brushes, spray equipment, and other painting tools, equipment, and devices used in the painting trade;
Erects and dismantles scaffolding and rigging; removes or covers objects to protect them from spattered paint; cleans work areas when jobs are completed;
Maintains necessary routine records; prepares job time; materials usage and other required or necessary reports; and
Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned .
Requirements :
Completion of an approved painter apprenticeship program including one year of high structure painting experience; or
Three years of industrial painting experience under the supervision of a qualified journeyman painter, including one year of experience in high structural painting; or
A combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the job responsibilities of a Structural Painter.
