Assist with development and update of safety programs, policies, and procedures, and propose changes in content based on legal requirements, make changes and submit for review prior to finalizing the updates content.
Assist in the investigation and review of injury reports, accident investigations report (AIR), security incident reports (SIR), and evaluate the effectiveness of existing health and safety program.
Evaluate and make recommendations on ordering and purchasing ergonomically safe equipment as needed.
Conduct inspections and review submitted inspection surveys to ensure that workplace safety practices are in place, to monitor the condition of equipment, and to assist in training staff on the correct usage of commonly used personal protective equipment.
Analyze health and safety data submitted by the County's different programs, develop reports, and make recommendations regarding the improvement of existing safety programs, policies, and procedures.
Assist supervisors and managers in developing workplace safety procedures and make recommendations for the correction of unsafe conditions and practices.
Represent the Department at meetings conducted by the County and other community agencies.
Conduct training and promoting safety to Department of Mental Health employees.
