The Sheriffs Department is accepting applications for Sheriffs Cooks I who are responsible for the preparation of food and serving meals in the institutional facilities, and supervise and train inmates in the preparation and serving of meals, dishwashing, and other cleanup tasks. This is the trainee level of the series. Incumbents in this class work under close supervision while receiving training and acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to progress to the Sheriffs Cook II level.

Applicants must meet one of the four options listed below:
Option A: A community college Certificate in Culinary Arts. Please attach a copy of the certificate to your application.

Option B: Three (3) months (full-time equivalent) paid food service experience.
