Sets efficient routes and stops given the location and timing of the functions, appointments, and locations of participating resident.Coordinates schedules with Community Services staff and part-time Bus Operators.Inspects bus for safe operation including brakes, tire pressure, mirrors, fluids, and safety warning lights and reports hazards and mechanical problems.Greets and assists passengers on and off buses, including disabled persons.Explains safety requirements and procedures regarding proper use of seatbelts and other requirements.Drives the bus along pre-determined routes and stops to pick up and release passengers.Trains Bus Operators in proper bus operation and safety practices.Arranges to transport passengers on special excursions.Completes records regarding safety incidents, accidents, and mechanical problems.Prepares activity records that can be used for grants and administrative reports.
High School graduation or G.E.D. equivalent AND completion of an approved bus operator training and safety program is required . Two years of experience AND training in the operation of a bus weighing two or more tons is required .
