Responsible for the safety and supervision of crossing children and pedestrians at designated crossing locations. Demonstrates safe crossing habits for children and prohibits unsafe pedestrian practices. Communicates traffic and safe crossing rules and other information to students and adults. Reports unsafe behavior of children to school officials and supervisor. Monitors the immediate area for unsafe and suspicious activity. Monitors the traffic flow and reports traffic conditions that impact pedestrian safety. Distributes traffic control signs and markers at designated points. Guides traffic movement and warns of hazards using signs and hand signals. Responds to questions and provides information to school children, parents, and motorists. Reports malfunctioning safety equipment (i.e. school zone flashers, signal lights, etc.) or any other obstructions that may interfere with safety of children to the appropriate supervisor. Attends training sessions or activities as required. Performs other duties as required.
